When there is a choice of time (i.e. not a set event) early-ish morning and late afternoon light are fab for outdoor shoots and to avoid the harsh, unflattering light of the middle of the day. Newborns are best photographed in the morning.

Absolutely! No awkward poses here but a nice amount of direction and of course guiding you into the most interesting and flattering light. This is all to help your photos look the best they can. If I need something to make a shot I'll let you know but sometimes you may not even know what shots I have taken and moments captured until you see the finished product. It's all about a delicate balance of candidness, authenticity and creativity. This is what I love about the lifestyle style of photography.

It's perfectly understandable in front of the camera is not always someone’s most comfortable place to be. I know at times I can feel exactly the same when it is my turn! My role as your photographer, and something I take great pride in, is helping people feel as comfortable and as relaxed as possible, as quickly as possible. I do this through my overall relaxed and easy going approach but also by sharing with people what I am doing and when they are looking great. When people feel comfortable that's when the magic happens on a photo shoot. I love delighting even my most skeptical clients with how easy and fun a shoot can be (yes, reluctant dads and self-conscious mums I'm looking at you!!)

Being a mum has really helped me be a better photographer of children. I understand that they might not do exactly what you want them to do when you want them to do it! I feel you! Photo shoots with children are a delicate balance of encouragement, fun, little breaks and overall picking up on what they need/where they are at and going with the flow. I love making them feel important and special during this experience so it is a memorable and influential experience for them. These things plus patience sees the magic happen. Well most of the time! **Insert parental wink, nudge, and coded handshake.

As soon as you realise you want/need a shot! I hate disappointing clients if I am already booked out when they want their shoot.

Yes! The many, many shoots I have done give me a strong sense of what works well. This can form part of our pre-shoot consultation but in a nutshell keeping it simple and outfits which are complimentary without be matchy matchy is always a good idea. I also encourage clients to dress in what they feel and look good in - be authentic to you!

No. If I use any props or items in the photos or during our shoot they belong to my clients (often a favourite blanket, toy or other gift) so the images are as authentic and meaningful as possible. Also, authenticity in look, feeling and style are signatures of lifestyle style of photography - a true and beautiful reflection of you with the support of a professional creative.

If it is raining or there is very poor light we will reschedule our shoot to the next mutually available time. I always touch base a couple of days before your shoot and will flag at that time if the weather is looking potentially disruptive.

I will send you a few preview shots within a few days of your shoot with the remainder of your gallery available within the following 3 weeks. I will let you know if this is looking different due to an especially heavy photo shoot schedule which is reducing my editing time.

Yes! Once a year in autumn with the gorgeous leaves. These limited number of shoots sell out every year so follow my Facebook page and sign up to my newsletter if you would like to be the first to know when dates are released.

You will receive your photos as digital images via a password protected private and secure online gallery to view, download and save your photos. USBs can be supplied on request.
